Thin Layer Chromatography results

We started with running thin layer chromatography of every single sample we collected from the day before during the medium pressure liquid chromatography. We had 52 tubes of samples, but not every tube was filled with enough product to run a TLC. This first TLC depicted is our 1st tube being ran on normal phase plates, instead of the reverse phase plates we used previously. As you continue to look down this page you will see that our numbers bounce around, and some numbers are skipped, because there wasn't enough to test it. We started off with only placing 1 collection of compounds on each plate, to doing two different compounds, and realizing due to our graph from yesterday that a lot of our compounds have kind of stuck together. So, we have a great deal of compounds that look similar and in order to tell we need bigger plates. We moved to doing 5 or 6 different solutions on a plate, which was nice because it allowed us to complete it faster. Once we had the visual of what compounds are essentially the same, we created the number and assigned what all we needed in order to use the rotovap machine which helps to remove solvents from samples. We finished the day with some fried rice, which was really good.

This is what we decided needs to be combined from our 52 tubes in order to use the rotovap machine tomorrow. We need a total of 10 flask to run these samples. We decided to name the different flask AK standing for Amarea and Kaylee, and then a number for each group.
